Racecourse Media Group is the umbrella organisation for 35 racecourses which hold an interest in Racing TV (Sky 424, Virgin 536 and 411, Freeview and Youview 261), GBI Racing (international betting shop/digital service) and Racecourse Data Company (licensor of Pre-Race Data). In addition, content from 37 racecourses is distributed by Sports Information Services (SIS) to Licensed Betting Offices (LBOs) in the UK and Ireland.
Job Purpose:
To primarily manage the accounting for the Production, Subscription channel and Digital Services business units (BU) and provide business partnering support. The Production BU is responsible for all broadcast output, delivered live from the racecourses and the VR-enabled studio, with operations based across Ealing and Raynes Park. The subscription channel manages member revenues and commercial partnerships across the TV channel. Digital Services runs our digital platforms including the website, social media channels and YouTube, monetised through ads, sponsored content and free-bet tenancy.
Job Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the key focus of the role is to work with the BUs, take ownership and responsibility of their P&Ls and provide business partnering support. You will need to understand the key revenue and cost drivers to assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and to review, analyse and report on variances monthly.
Measures for the role:
- Produce monthly management accounts for the BUs the role is responsible for in a timely basis, including business partnering with budget holders
- Variance analysis of monthly actuals vs budget/forecast and preparing commentary for the management pack
- Monthly balance sheet analysis and reconciliations
- Resolve month end review queries
- Review and understand contracts for both revenues and costs and budget/account accordingly
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts for the BUs responsible
- Provide CFO/FC and the BUs with financial analysis as required
- Business partner with the BUs and be their key Finance point of contact for day-to-day queries
- Co-ordinate with Sales Ledger Manager to review debtor positions and ensure cashflows from Digital Services revenues are collected on a timely basis
- Ensure record keeping meets standards of auditors, HMRC and due diligence
- Audit preparation and oversee audit visit
- Develop and improve the existing accounting system and processes as necessary
- Ad hoc travel to Ealing and Raynes Park
- Other ad hoc duties within the department as required
