RMG awarded production and distribution contracts for 2019-20 and 2020-21 season

Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has been awarded a further two-year contract by Meydan Group to provide production and distribution of the next two full horseracing seasons at Meydan Racecourse.

The season is now underway and culminates with the glittering US$35m Dubai World Cup card on March 28, 2020 – recognised as the most international and valuable day’s racing. Timeline Television will provide broadcast facilities and crew to support RMG’s host production and on-course coverage.

Richard FitzGerald, CEO of RMG, said: “We are delighted that Meydan has once again appointed RMG for its production and distribution services. We look forward to working closely with our valued partners, Meydan, in showcasing such a significant sporting event to the world.”

RMG, which has produced and distributed horseracing from the flagship racecourse in Dubai for the previous four seasons, is offering a number of exciting broadcast rights packages for the season, hosted by the Dubai Racing Club.

The domestic season leads into the Dubai World Cup Carnival, which starts on January 2, 2020 and takes in 10 fixtures, before climaxing with the world’s richest day’s racing, the Dubai World Cup race-day, with total purses of $35million.

The Dubai World Cup race-day enjoyed unprecedented global exposure in 2019. Broadcasters included the likes of NBC (US), CBC, (Canada), ESPN (Latin America, Caribbean), Fuji TV (Japan), Sina (China), Super Sport (sub-Saharan Africa), Sky Thoroughbred Central (Australia), Match (Russia), Racing TV and Sky Sports Racing (UK, Republic of Ireland), Virgin Media 1 (Republic of Ireland), TVP (Poland), Dubai Racing Channel and Yas TV (UAE), and Sport 24 (cruise lines and air lines). It also headlined programming on CNN, Eurosport and Trans World Sport.

Created through the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the racing is set against one of the most iconic sporting theatres, the state-of-the-art Meydan Racecourse. The architectural masterpiece measures 1.2km in length and can seat over 60,000 in its grandstand.

Racecourse Media Group is the parent company of Racing TV, which will be showing every fixture live from Meydan this season and is available on Sky 426, Virgin 536 and 411 (GB and Ireland), BT TV, TalkTalk, Freeview and YouView 261, Apple TV, Vodafone (Ireland) and www.racingtv.com.
